Mission & Vision

Join us in living our mission of growing the beloved community by working for justice, and practicing radical welcome, as we listen, learn and love.

What We Believe

At the center of our faith is love. We affirm and promote the 6 Sources of Unitarian Universalism, 7 Principles, and in 2019 we adopted the 8th Principle. We are on a journey to grow the beloved community locally and welcome people who share our values of love, justice and liberation to join us in the fullness of who you are!

Growing the Beloved Community

Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism (BLUU) “Everybody wants a place to call home. Many Black UU’s have clearly articulated a need for a Unitarian Universalism that offers an unequivocal and unwavering sense of home to Black people who feel held by, or want to be more connected to, Black ancestry, Black love, Black thought, Black artistry, and Black faith. What we want is a Unitarian Universalism that, at EVERY turn, honors, uplifts, and equips our Black Lives.” - BLUU’s website

We invite you to join monthly BLUU Haven Chicago gatherings to connect socially and engage locally! Learn about BLUU spiritual communities here. Contact: BLUUHavenChicago@gmail.com

Join BLUU for online worship second Sundays at 3pm. BLUU’s online worship is Black Sacred Space in its entirety – by and for Black people, with the words and voices of Black folks across the diaspora – and we hope that Black UU’s and Black UU-adjacent folks (who share our values of love, liberation and justice) will join us! Contact: BLUUHavenChicago@gmail.com

We invite you to join our People of Color Caucus open to all members who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color.  We gather to build community, and support one another’s growth and healing. We also organize and lead several worship services each year.

Beloved Conversations

We invite you to join the Beloved Conversations learning program - for people of all races seeking to embody racial justice as a spiritual practice, and to heal from the impact of racism on our lives in order to get free together.  To learn more visit Beloved Conversations. If interested, please contact Rev.ColleenUU@gmail.com

We are Unitarian Universalists living with disabilities, our families, friends, and allies coming together for a common purpose: To enable the full engagement of people with disabilities in Unitarian Universalist communities and the broader society. We invite you to find out more about us and to join us in this work.  All are welcome. Learn more here.

We invite you to UPLIFT Transgender / Non-Binary Monthly Gatherings - 4th Tuesdays @ 7pm CST - for trans, non-binary, and other not-entirely-or-at-all-cis UU’s.
